Making a Difference…

One Family at a Time”

Almost Home provides a safe, transitional home and support for homeless teenage mothers and their children. We help them learn to become self-sufficient through a structured, individualized Program.

As the young mothers set and reach their goals, their self-esteem increases, in turn, this helps them to make healthy choices in their life and their relationships. This population of young mothers has experienced dreadful, negative surroundings and been taught as well as actually told they are not “good enough” or “smart enough”. They believe these messages and feel they can neither be nor do any better – we work to help them realize that they can!

Members prepare for successful adulthood by learning life skills and envisioning a different kind of future life than they might have lived, before accepting Almost Home’s care and structure. We help them stop living from crisis to crisis, and teach them to create stability so that they can develop outlined strategies for the future - to pause, plan and proceed.

Almost Home values a close interaction with the young mothers; Program staff members are on-site 24 hours a day, each day of the year. Almost Home Transitional provides a spacious, family-style living environment for 15 young mothers and up to 25 of their children at a time.
