“Claire” was born to a mentally-challenged mother, with whom she lived until she was eight years old and put into foster care. At 16, she became pregnant by her foster father, and gave birth to a hearing-impaired daughter. She entered the Almost Home program, pregnant with her second child, but enthusiastic about the chance to change her life. Her eldest child recently received a surgical implant to help restore some of her hearing, which has opened a whole new world to this active three year old.
