Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt | Reports To: Director of Operations
Position Overview:
Under supervision of the Director of Operations the Maintenance Worker will perform a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment of Almost Home and Almost Home Apartments.
Core Functions
- Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, plumbing, and equipment.
- Performs minor and major repair of building and equipment.
- Performs basic repair of plumbing leaks or breaks, opens clogged lines and drains, unstopping toilets replaces seals and other minor parts.
- Performs basic electrical repair work for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, appliances and lighting systems.
- Performs preventative maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis.
- Repairs doors, door locks, closets, installs window blind, and patches holes in walls.
- Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building maintenance.
- Liaison between vendors and inspectors for the agency
- Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Purchases supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects.
- Assembles and moves furniture, hangs pictures, moves and sets up furniture.
- Paints interior and exterior walls.
- Maintain grounds including mowing, trimming, weeding, and replacing plants as needed.
- Cleans debris from grounds, pathways and parking lots.
- Snow removal when necessary
- Pick up donations as required.
- All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Education in technical training in a field related to building maintenance preferred.
- At least one (1) year building maintenance experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience working in a residential setting desired.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain a Chauffer’s License within 60 days of employment
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting, grounds keeping, appliance repair, and electrical wiring.
- Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of buildings.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Knowledge in using hand and power tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Follow orders and complete work assignments with a minimum of supervision.
- Learn quickly and retain knowledge in order to acquire additional skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 100 pounds.
